Nick Fleming
Position: Chief Executive

Nick is the boss and manages the whole show. Nick has been sailing since he was a nipper and had many highlights to his career including a round-the-world race in 1998. Nick is rarely found on a boat anymore and more likely to be in the OYT Office or out and about meeting funders. Nick is available in the office on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of each week.

Trevor Farrar
Position: Operations Manager

Trevor heads up the operations team and makes sure the boats are ready and safe to go to sea. Trevor was a skipper with OYT Scotland for a number of years prior to becoming Ops Manager. With 3 boats now in our fleet Trev always has a lot to do. Trevor is in the office on Thursday and Friday of each week during refit time (November to February).

Jan E Margetts
Position: Development Officer

Jan has been with the Trust for nearly eight years and has recently moved from her post as Office Manager into the post of Development Officer from the 1st of December 2010. The main role of the job involve getting young people on the Trusts Voyages and making sure they have a fantastic 'Adventure Under Sail'.

Helen McMeekin
Position: Senior Fundraising Officer

I joined in 2008 to help increase and diversify the Trust's income – necessary to support our adventures under sail and the work we do on land.

I work part-time, usually Tuesday to Thursday in the office each week and when time (and Nick) permits, out on the water on the OYT boats.

Derek Robertson
Position: Volunteer Co-ordinator

Derek looks after our volunteers, from recruitment to training, booking volunteers on as sea staff and organising social events. Derek began volunteering with OYT in 2010 and continues to sail on the Trust's vessels as Second Mate.

Hazel Wiseman
Position: Finance Officer

Hazel looks after all aspects of the Trust's finances. From invoicing to budgets; from credit cards to purchase orders. Hazel works in the office Monday to Thursday.

Ashley Reid
Position: Finance Officer

Having forged a career in corporate and consumer PR for 5 years, I was keen to escape the rat race of the city for a position more inspiring.

To move from the private sector into the third sector has been a breath of fresh air. The motivation and satisfaction that come with working alongside my talented peers and witnessing the changes in the young people we aim to help is something I never thought a 9-5 job could bring. Working at OYT Scotland isn't just a job, it's a lifestyle and a commitment that you choose.

I am a fundraising officer alongside my colleague Helen McMeekin, taking responsibility for corporate partnerships, sponsorships and event organisation.

Working at OYT Scotland has introduced me to a whole new passion – sailing. I have always been active, formerly an avid swimmer, runner and horse-rider and am enjoying adding a new string to my bow. Having been on a few short voyages to date, I am looking forward to taking on the elements again following the winter refit. The role also gives me the opportunity to meet people from all backgrounds and walks of life and I look forward to making more new friends and acquaintances during my time at OYT Scotland.

My aim is to use my experience in public relations and the media to raise awareness of OYT Scotland in the corporate world in order to attract interest and investment for the benefit of the Trust and the young people we represent.

With a 1 year old daughter and another on the way, I don't have much time for myself these days, but I still enjoy swimming, walking and teaching the piano when I get the time!

One thing I have learned is that OYT Scotland could not and would not exist without the unrelenting help, support, loyalty and commitment of its volunteers and supporters – it is these people who make it possible for us to provide life-changing opportunities to young people. To them, I extend my utmost thanks and sincere admiration.
