Notice Of AGM 2012
OCEAN YOUTH TRUST SCOTLAND
Incorporated 8th November 1999
Notice is hereby given to the Members of the Trust that the 12th Annual General Meeting will be held at the Stirling Management Centre, Stirling University, on Sunday 19th February 2012 at 3.15 p.m.
The principal items for the agenda are annexed.

1. Chairman's Welcome and Address.
2. Apologies
3. Approval of the minutes of the previous AGM.
4. To receive the joint report and statement by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive.
5. To receive the Financial Report.
6. To Adopt the Accounts for the Period ended 31st October 2011, circulated by electronic mail and published on the Trust's website.
7. Ratification of Director co-options, and election of new Directors.
The current Company Officers are :-

Robbie Wishart Director and Company Secretary
Malcolm MacArthur, Sandy McNeill, Iain Barbour, Nick Fleming, Dom McKay, Ian Nicholls, Nick Pilbeam, and Stuart Simpson were appointed in 2011.
Robbie Wishart was co-opted in May 2011 and is offering himself for ratification as a director
Ian MacLeod retires and is seeking re-election.
Stuart Simpson will retire at the meeting and is not offering himself for re-election.
The position of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson will be chosen/ratified by the incoming Board members.
The Board of Directors are pleased to invite applications/nominations from the membership for the position of director.
NOTE: Any nominations for positions on the Board of Directors, must be lodged with the Secretary not less than 14 days before the date of the Meeting, for which purpose a nomination form is included with this notice.
8. Authority of the Directors to appoint the Auditors, and to fix their remuneration.
10. Any other competent business.
All members and supporters are welcome to attend the Annual General Meeting. In the event of a vote having to be taken only current registered Members will be entitled to vote either in person, or by proxy using the enclosed proxy form. This form must be completed and returned to the OYT Scotland office 14 days before the meeting, or presented to the secretary or his deputy at the meeting.

AGM & Training Seminar 2012

OYT Scotland will hold the Annual Training Seminar at Stirling Management Centre, Stirling University; Saturday 18th & Sunday 19th February 2012
The weekend promises to be a great event as members are encouraged to attend courses, gain skills and enjoy the social event which marks the start of the 2012 season.
Saturday 18th February 2012; staff and volunteers will deliver the following RYA Shorebased courses;
• RYA Diesel Maintenance
• RYA Short range radio licence
• RYA Sea Survival
• RYA First Aid
• RYA Radar
Saturday evening you are invited to our annual Dinner, our awards ceremony and presentations.
Sunday 19th February 2012; participants will attend some short workshops, followed by the AGM at 15.15

Funding for volunteers
WAVE OF FRIENDSHIP VOLUNTEER BURSARIES
Wave of Friendship have two volunteer programmes that promote and support volunteerin, including:
a) London/Scotland: bursaries of up to £500 in expenses to encourage volunteering between Scotland and London.
b) Scotland only: bursaries of up to £100 in expenses to encourage volunteers in Scotland to take up a volunteering experience in another part of the country
Expenses can include travel, accommodation, food etc. The application process is very simple and all kinds of volunteering experiences qualify. You can apply as an individual, with a friend or as a group.
To date bursaries have been awarded for conservation, arts, fundraising and event volunteering roles, to name but a few.

International Exchange Opportunities 2012
If you've experienced the thrill and adventure of Sail Training in the UK and would like the opportunity to explore Sail Training in other continents, then you'll be very interested in learning more about the International exchanges that take place each year between Sail Training organisations in the UK, Canada and Australia
The exchanges are organised by ASTO, the UK Sail Training national body. who invite people aged between 18 and 25 to apply to participate in the scheme and sail on the far side of the world!
Interviews will be held 2012 early in the year for suitable applicants. The Australian Scheme is funded by ASTO and provides an annual scholarship to a British person who has sailed on a UK Sail Training vessel. The Canadian Scheme is funded by the James Myatt Trust and the scheme usually funds two young people from the UK. More details can be found on the website:
